2011 Telekom Extreme Skate Playgrounds
This weekend, the 18th - 20th of November, Berlin was the home of BMX riders and Skater boarders from around the world who were fighting it out on the street skate circuit for their share of the $20,000 prize purse.
The Telekom Extreme Skate Playgrounds has been held for over five years and is growing vastly in popularity. Attendance this year hit 50,000 over the 3 days of events which concluded in an intense Sunday final. The skaters had 3 minutes in which to impress the judges over three rounds.

The street skate title was taken this year by Greg Lutzka. The 27 year old skater from Milwaukee, Wisconsin took home a prize chest of $5,000. The top two spots were closely contested and Manny Santiago only just missed out on the gold medal. Manny settled for the silver medal and pocketed a cool $3,500 in doing so. The two Americans were joined on the podium by local German skater Jost Ahrens who picked up $2,750 for his efforts.
The best skate trick contest was a crowd pleaser and a nice interlude between the main event. The best trick of the day was a backside kickflip over the centre box performed by Tyler Hendley and won the young man $1,500. The second and third best skate tricks were a backside Noseblunt across the Hubba and a sweet double kickflip off the combo box.
