Want Your Own Skate Site?

Creating your own website can be fun. Particularly when it is about a topic you love. That is why we started SkateUpdate. You may or may not want your own skate site but you can still create a site about your own passion. These days you can not only add text and images but video as well. You first obtain a domain and then hosting, however you can obtain easy to use site creation tools.

Get Started
Search for a domain that makes sense for your site. It could be descriptive or just a generic word. You can also add a dash “-” into a domain if that helps you find a domain that you like. You can start with using a coupon for godaddy and not only get a name but a home for your site as well. Choose a name wisely and some say it matters but honestly depending on how you brand your site it may not matter. In other words if you brand traditionally on shirts and in magazines then maybe you will want a name that is either short or easy to remember. However if all your marketing is done online you will mainly have people link to you and they will just copy and paste.

Next the Site
Once you have your name you can create the site itself easier than you think. Many hosting companies now provide what they call site builders. These are usually tools that allow you to create a site by dragging and dropping elements. You can easily add pictures, text and everything you would want. They also provide templates you can choose from for your site so it looks very professional. These can be customized to your own tastes.

Another popular option is to use WordPress which is known as a content management system (CMS). A fancy way to say yet another site builder. However it is the most popular and if you train yourself on it you can use the skill with many other sites. They also provide free themes, and since it is open source software there are many individuals and companies that provide themes free of charge or you can buy some also. Also many create what are known as plugins. These can be used on your site to do many different things.

Promotion
You can promote sites like your own through social media, whether it be Facebook, Pinterest or others to let the world know of your site. Most importantly when you create content of interest to others such as our skateboarding content and news, then others may promote your site for you.

Get started on the site that reflects your passion!

The EMOJI Spectrum R7 Skateboard Deck

Skate board decks are typically outrageous designs with various layers of detail and pattern. The EMOJI Spectrum R7 deck is slightly different. It is plain and simple and will appeal to a wide range of skater. It is simply a black design fascia with the word EMOJI printed in multiple colours. This is in line with the current skater fashion of relatively plain clothes and subtle yet bright colouring that stands out and makes a point.

You may find that the Emoji Spectrum R7 deck will be one of the plainest of all decks in park in terms of design but it will certainly stand out and will be at the top end of deck fashion!

This deck is available for viewing and purchased at Seby Skateboards where you are also able to take advantage of free delivery.

The Osiris NYC Skating Shoe

The skating shoe market has just been entered by the brand new design from Osiris NYC. It is a bulky design of shoe that will protect the skater against big falls as well as offering the wearer a shoe that is breathable and lightweight despite its size thanks to the materials used to make it.

The Osiris NYC will cost you $79 at its recommended retail price. The shoe feayures a cupsole construction that I designed for the maximum user comfort. This also includes an exposed EVA midsole which is soft moulded and fully covered in latex which adds to the excellent support that is delivered to the user. These shoes will be shaped to the size of the foot and leave the skater without irritating blisters at the end of a skating session.

The exterior of the sneaker is made from an abrasion resistant rubber that increases durability and allows for the Osiris NYC sneaker to last for longer before being totally wrecked.  The performance of the sneaker is also greatly improved by further reinforced areas of high abrasion for absolute security and high wear rate. The tongue and collar are padded as is traditional for skate sneakers.

These sneakers are available for purchased with free delivery at Vavourused.com

2012 Skate and Create Winner: Skate Wars by Creature

Transworld 4th annual Skate and Create contest has concluded and Creature’s edgy, rough and hoochie entry called Skate Wars bagged the coveted the award. Skate Wars rises above from the other 3 entries with its vintage style, skaters zooming from hot rods, loose pinup looking girls and of course, tons of skating madness. Fans and members of the Transworld magazine werfunctions.phpe all amazed by the entries and of course with the winning production by Creature.

The 2012 Skate and Create has handpicked 4 skating production teams namely Creature, Blue Print, Dwindle Distribution and Habitat and were given 10 days to create a winning video using the streets, building tucks with Makita power tools and materials  and 2 professional builders. Each team are allowed to use photographers and film crew to shoot a 3 – 5 minutes Skate and Create video to be judged by Transworld staff and be featured in the magazine based on creativity and obstacles used in the production.

Creature’s Skate Wars was very direct with its message by showing the fast life and fun of skating and of course the loose women, road blocks and the big thirst of having a good life though skating. The other 3 entries were also visually artistic and more on story telling like the Life Glitch by Blueprint which chronicles the lives of 7 skaters coming from different cities and moving to Los Angeles. Other entries were Smooth Moves by Dwindle Production which was more on humor about a moving company and its thrasher employees and Habitat’s entry called Bourne again which was about living the dream of an Skateboarder.

All entries were creative and amazing and there are lots of moments where your jaw will dropped with the stunts and moves and the architecture of the production teams were also astounding. Creature’s Skate Wars production was a mixture of girls, fun, architectures, crazy skating and fast life which is evident in the skating world.
